San Diego Orca

Sale price $100.00

The SAN DIEGO Orca snaps onto your FREE-WILi 2 and turns the open electronics multitool into a full vehicle and industrial network interface. You get ISO CAN FD, RS485, and both flavors of single-pair automotive Ethernet (10BASE-T1S and 10BASE-T1L) through one rugged DB-15 connector, powered straight from the vehicle battery via VBATT.

Modern vehicles and industrial systems do not speak USB. They speak CAN FD, RS485, and increasingly, single-pair Ethernet. SAN DIEGO Orca brings all of them to FREE-WILi 2 so you can sniff, script, simulate, and stress-test the same buses running in cars, trucks, robots, and factory floors.

Plug it into the FREE-WILi extension connector, wire up the DB-15, and you are on the network with the same Python, Rust, C/C++ API, touchscreen, and onboard Linux workflow you already use.

What's on board

  • 1x ISO CAN FD with selectable on-board termination. No more digging for a 120Ω resistor at the bottom of your bag. Flip termination on when you're the end node, off when you're tapping into a live bus.
  • 1x RS485, the workhorse of industrial automation. Talk Modbus, motor drives, sensor chains, and legacy field equipment.
  • 1x 10BASE-T1S, multidrop single-pair Ethernet and the new zonal-architecture backbone in modern vehicle design.
  • 1x 10BASE-T1L, long-reach single-pair Ethernet for industrial and building automation, up to 1 km on a single twisted pair.
  • 1x VBATT input to power the setup directly from the vehicle battery
  • All I/O lands on a single rugged DB-15 connector: one harness in, five interfaces out.
